Literacy Council of Carroll Adds an Additional English Conversation Group
Launched on November 13th, this new group meets Thursdays at 7:15 p.m. at the Crossroads Community Center of the Westminster-based Crossroads Church. Tutored by Christine Elahi and Meggan Bobrow, this new group meets directly after the church’s weekly food distribution.
Existing LCCC conversation groups meet on Monday evenings at 5:00 p.m. at the Multi-Service Center in Westminster and Tuesdays at 5:15 p.m. at the Mount Airy branch of the Carroll County Public Library. In addition, a Spanish Language Practice Circle meets every other week at the Eldersburg branch of the CCPL. The goal of these conversation groups is to develop and enhance English language conversational skills for those of whom English is a second language. There is an ongoing initiative to establish additional conversation groups in Eldersburg/ Sykesville, Taneytown, North Carroll, and Finksburg.
Any county organization interested in establishing a conversation group, or donating space for a conversation group, is asked to contact LCCC Director of Educational Programs, Erin Stacks Vigil, at 410-857-0766 or info@carrollliteracy.org.
