Financial literacy workshop being held on May 18th

In conjunction with the Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County and the Carroll Arts Center, we are pleased to offer the following FREE program: Protecting Your Finances and Avoiding Scams: What You Need to Know!  The program is being held Monday May 18th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Carroll Arts Center, located at 91 East Main Street, Westminster.

Program topics and presenters are as follows:

  • Financial Education in the K-12 Classroom – Phylis Zumbrun, Retired Educator and former FDIC Auditor
  • Current Education Regarding Fraud, Scams, and Financial Loses in Carroll County – Jim DeWees, Carroll County Sheriff and Alan Culver, Assistant States Attorney for Carroll County
  • Real Estate Practices and Financial Isses in the Real Estate Market – Nora Drury, Associate Broker, Marantha Realty
  • What YOU Need to Know in Today’s Banking World – Dawn Bornman, Vice-President of Security and Fraud Management at ACNB
  • Scams, How to Recognize Them, and Steps to Present Losing Your Money – Jason Earhardt, Special Investigator, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Jack Bayne, Senior Staff Member of the Carroll Technology & Innovation Council
